Pilatus, Switzerland ~ 2003

Mt Pilatus 2128m

Mt. Pilatus is a tall peak towering over Luzern, popular with tourists and locals for its spectacular 360 panorama views of many lakes and mountain views in Central Switzerland. Since this is so close to Zurich and Luzern, this is a good choice if you need to impress visitors and don’t want to drive all the way to Zermatt or the Jungfrau region. At the top, you’ll find a big observation deck, cafes and restaurants, lounge chairs, gift shops, etc.

Getting to Mt. Pilatus

There are two ways to get to the top of Pilatus. the gondola and cable car from Kriens or cogwheel mountain train from Alpnachstad. We typically ride up from Kriens because it’s closer to Zürich and has a more frequent schedule (gondola runs continually, cable car runs every 15 mins). The Alpnachstad train only about runs once an hour.

Pilatus Observation Deck

At the top, there is a big observation deck where you can wander and catch the views on all sides.
