Toledo, Spain ~ 2010

 

Dy trip tour to Toledo, is one of Spain’s most enchanting ancient cities, and filled with fascinating attractions It took about 70km with car journey. Toledo is an historic city overlooking the Tagus River in Castilla-La Mancha. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a long and colorful history dating back over two millennia. Today, Toledo is referred to as the “City of the Three Cultures” to reflect the roles Christianity, Judaism, and Islam played in shaping its history. This confluence of cultural influences is what makes Toledo so fascinating.


 
Toledo is an ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. The capital of the region, it’s known for the medieval Arab, Jewish and Christian monuments in its walled old city. It was also the former home of Mannerist painter El Greco. The Moorish Bisagra Gate and the Sol Gate, in Mudéjar style, open into the old quarter, where the Plaza de Zocodover is a lively meeting place.
 
 
  












Toledo Cathedral is one of three 13th-century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain. For some, it’s considered the greatest example of Gothic-style architecture in the country. Construction of the cathedral began in 1226 and continued for nearly 270 years until its completion in 1493.

Exhibition Templar and other Military Orders

In a privileged environment of the Historic Center of Toledo we have the Templar and other Military Orders exhibition , where the origins and sunset of these knights known as Templar since 1118 are shown when a group of French nobles arrive in Jerusalem under the vows of obedience, poverty , chastity and a fourth vote of defense of the Holy Sepulcher and the pilgrims who visited it. Uniforms, shields, banners and objects alluding to this famous order in an interesting show especially for the little ones.
