Timpohon gate is the entrance or check point for all climbers after done all registration in Kinabalu Park. A van will send you from the park to timpohon gate, it is around 5.5km from the parks. Timpohon is 1866 meter, activities for today is to climb up 6km to Laban Rata Rest house @ 3272 meters. Climber take average 3 to 5 hours to climb 1406 meters for the day depending on individual fitness level. There is several shelters located in every KM for climbers to take a rest and toilet break.
It took me approximate 4 hours to reach Laban Rata. Below are the timeline for my climb. The first 4km is easy walk consume 2hr for the 4km, the hard part is from km 4 to km 6, and took me 2 hrs for the 2km.
